LASIK Malpractice

By Kevin Stith LASIK, pronounced LAY-sik, is actually an acronym for LAser in SItu Keratomileusis. It is a type of refractive surgery procedure in which the cornea of the eye is reshaped to alter its optical ability. This is being done to correct myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia, LASIK malpractice occurs when the surgeon does not perform the procedure right and results to a damage in the eye or both eyes of the patient. Complications during the surgery can lead to patient complaining of LASIK malpractice. In refractive surgery, there are a few complications the surgeon should anticipate and explain to the patient. Awareness of these complications can help the patient make an informed decision if he wants to continue the procedure or not. Such complications range from problems that are quite negligible to bothersome, the worst case scenario being losing an eye. But since the procedures of refractive surgery are always being refined over and over again, the occurrence of the worst case scenario has actually decreased to almost being nonexistent. However, even small problems continue to disturb some unfortunate patients. One complication of refractive surgery or LASIK is regarding the formation of cataract in the crystalline lens of the eye. They make the lens so foggy that light can no longer pass through to reach the cornea, thus making you temporarily blind. While a cataract can be cured by performing lens implant, this requires additional eye surgery which means having additional risks of infection and damage. Another complication of LASIK is involved in the correction of high amounts of myopia (the scarring of the central cornea) where the laser in the surgery is focused. This scarring serves as a filter of the light passing through the central cornea and, due to the formation of clouds and haze, vision is reduced. The glare and halos that patients usually complain about are also caused by this light diffusion. Finally, the epithelial growth into the cornea stroma is another serious complication of LASIK, producing significant vision problems. This happens when the epithelium lining the front of the cornea begins to develop into the stroma area and gradually invades it. These complications are what eye surgeons should prevent so that they will not be alleged for malpractice. Malpractice provides detailed information on Malpractice, Medical Malpractice, Medical Malpractice Attorney, Dental Malpractice and more. Malpractice is affiliated with Whistleblower Protection Acts. Where Is Your Side Seam?

By Marian Lewis That may seem like a dumb question, but it really isn't. You may answer, "At my side, of course!" But, "where" at your side? Do you know where your side seam should be? Most folks believe that their side seams are halfway between their front and their back. That's because ready-to-wear and sewing pattern companies make their products for evenly balanced bodies. How many people do you know who are evenly balanced front to back? Most of us have larger tummies that offset that balance. The side seam pulls to the front to accommodate the extra bulge. Envision a pregnant gal or a beer bellied guy. If their side seams were halfway on their garments, the seams would fall in front of their legs. That's a bit extreme, but you get the picture. Some of us have protruding derrieres. The side seam pulls to the back. Your side seam should be in the middle of the side of your leg about about where your ankle is and go straight up in a perpendicular line to the middle of your underarm. Use a plumb line to help you identify this line on your body. Measure your front. Measure your back. Full body measurementswon't do it! Alter your sewing patterns to accommodate your unique body to get good fit. You need more fabric where you have more bulge! It just makes sense! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= - by Marian Lewis 2005 Marian Lewis - All Rights Reserved 1st Step To Sewing Success =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Marian Lewis is a sewing instructor and the creator of an amazing new fitting method for hard-to-fit sewing folks. By Jonathan Lewis So, you think it is time for a career change? Follow our nine step career change plan and youll be well on the way to a more enriching life! Many people are unhappy in their jobs, but you have made the big decision to change your career. So lets examine some of the reasons you might have decided that a career change is for you. Perhaps you are looking for a career with a higher salary? Or looking for a career that allows for a better work life balance? You might have become bored with your current responsibilities, and be looking for a more exciting career? Perhaps a career with more travel? Or more opportunities to make a difference? Or you wish to combine your career with broader interests you have in life? Make sure, however, that it is a career change you are seeking, and not just a different employer in the same career. Whatever the reason, you have made the biggest step of all, which is to decide to make your career change a reality! So now what? Lets look at a nine point career change action plan for how you might attack your career change! 1) Choosing your new career Assuming that you would like to use your career change, at least partly, to increase the enjoyment you get from the time you spend working, the first thing to do is to assess what you actually like doing! 2) Skills and experience for your career change So now you know what you want to get out of your career change. Now you must assess whether you have the right skills and experience to get into your new career. 3) Training for your new career If completing a career change we easy, all of us would be in our dream careers right now! So what is stopping us? Perhaps it is the additional skills which we need to build to be credible in our new career. Dont think that training, however, is restricted to job-related or academic courses. You can get the skills and experience you need for your career change in many other ways! 4) Accepting a pay cut for your career change Perhaps the main reason for your career change is to earn more money? If so, then thats great, but its always wise to get as much information on your new career to ensure that you will actually earn more money doing it. If, however, your career change is not driven by wanting to achieve more money, you may need to accept a pay cut. 5) Financing your career change Completing your career change may require a spell without paid employment. As well as tightening your belt, you should also do a thorough review of your financial position, including loans, mortgages and credit cards. By switching credit cards, you may find you can save money and get other benefits! 6) Relocating Perhaps your main reason for your career change is to relocate to an area with a lower cost of living, or better schooling or a better climate. Even if it isnt, your career change might require a relocation you wont find many opportunities to be a ski instructor in San Diego, for example! 7) Changing career without changing employer Before you assume that you will need to leave your current employer to achieve your career change, have a look around and see if your career change goals can be satisfied where you are currently working. 8) Finding a new employer There are a number of ways to find an employer which every job searcher knows classified adverts, internet job-boards, employer directories etc. Many jobs, however, are never listed in classified adverts and on job-boards because they are filled as soon as they are announced! To make sure that you are in with a chance, you must develop a strong network in the career you wish to change to. 9) Refreshing your job-hunting skills The chances are, if youve been in your current position for a while, that your job-hunting skills could be quite rusty! So take the opportunity to brush up on these skills you might only get one chance to make your career change successful! 10) Staying flexible to achieve your career change dreams Finally, now that youve made the biggest step and chosen to pursue a career change, dont rush it! It may take a month or even a year to work out exactly what you want from your career change and to develop the skills, experience and network to get you into the right place within that career. Dont settle for something which is almost right or youll be going through the whole career change process again! Upside Down - Perfect for Your Tomatoes

By J Ruppel You may have seen upside down tomato gardens and planters advertised, or you may have thought of building an upside down planter of your own. But what are the advantages of these upside down planters, and what are the options for buying or making one? Upside Down Tomato Planter - Make or Buy There are a couple of commercially available planters. Some are for just a single plant, while others handle several plants. They are advertised heavily to be used for tomatoes, but they can also be used to grow smaller bush plants like peppers and maybe even eggplants. Many herbs will grow well in these planters. There is a smaller type of planter (for example the Topsy Turvy planter) that your can find for under $20. It will usually hold one plant (you can sometimes put a second one on the top), and will need someplace to hang. Another type is the larger self supporting units like the Upside Down Tomato Garden. This garden unit stands about 5 feet tall and is designed to hold several tomato plants, and herbs or flowers on the top. An ideal fit for an apartment balcony or patio, it will also serve well as a nice little garden space you can put close to your kitchen on a deck. You should be aware that fully loaded with soil they can weigh quite a bit, so consider ahead of time just where you want to put it. The larger upside down tomato garden can hold 80 pounds of dirt, so you don't want to be moving it after it's loaded. You can build an upside down planter yourself. A simple plastic bucket could be used for the planter with a hole in the bottom of a few inches in diameter. You can hang it from a hook on the house, or build a simple sawhorse bracket. Pros of Using an Upside Down Tomato Planter With the tomatoes hanging in the air they can ripen without rot. You have fewer problems with pests like snails and ants. Make sure to keep the planter soil moist, as all container grown plants tend to dry out fairly quickly in hot weather. An upside down tomato garden is perfect for your apartment on a balcony or a patio, or put one on a patio or deck for those just looking to move part of the garden closer to the kitchen. Gear Needed for Fishing with Nymphs

By Brett Fogle Now that weve covered what nymph fly fishing is all about, letsnext take a look at what sort of fly fishing gear you're going toneed to do it. While nymph fly fishing uses pretty much the samegear you use when dry fly fishing, there is a few small itemsthat any successfully nymph fisherman will want to have. Theseitems are strike indicators, some small weights, and a good pairof fly fishing sunglasses. Strike Indicators for Nymph Fishing First, you will need some strike indicators. Strike indicatorsare generally bright orange, ungodly looking things that get puton your leader well above the fly or on the fly line itself, atthe junction of the fly line and leader. These strike indicatorsare what you look at when nymph fishing not the fly itself. With practice and patience, youll eventually be able to tellwhen unnatural movements occur in the strike indicator whichmost likely indicates that a fish just took your nymph flyimitation. Exactly where to put the strike indicator is a matter of somedebate, but ultimately boils down to what you are fly fishing forand where you are doing it. Wary Brown Trout in heavily fishedwaters, like the Missouri River, are not likely to be real wildabout seeing a bright orange object just a few feet above thefly. On the other hand, more gullible trout or trout that receiveless fly fishing pressure could probably care less about it. Inshort, use your judgment, erring on the side of caution (placingthe strike indicator as far away from the fly as possible, foryour abilities). Small Weights for Nymph Fishing The second thing youll need for many rivers will be some smallweights to add to your fly line or leader. In many, if not mostnymph fly fishing situations, a floating line is still used. However, to get the fly down to the depth you want it to go willrequire weighting it (at least in faster water). This is best done with the newer twist on non-toxic weightsthat are now available. Using these types of weights, an anglercan put on as much or as little weight as needed to bring the flydown to depth, while at the same time preventing the fish frominhaling toxic lead (which can kill them). Should you plan on fishing in really deep or fast rivers whereeven a weighted leader will not get the fly down to depth fastenough, then you will also want to look at investing in asink-tip fly line. Sink-tip fly lines have the tip of the flyline weighted to sink, thus allowing it to sink the nymph flymore quickly. Fly Fishing Sunglasses for Nymph Fishing Another item of heavy importance is a good pair of polarizedsunglasses. Its absolutely imperative that you be able to seethe strike indicator, and polarized sunglasses are very effective for this. _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Who else wants to pull in a bounty of big fish - Every time! Facts About Depression

By Michael Russell One of the most common psychological problems, depression, affects almost everyone in one way or another. Almost everyone either has a family member, friend, or maybe even they suffer from depression themselves. There are around 17 million adults in the United States that suffer from some period of clinical depression. While these people are living with depression, they also are directly affecting all of the people they are close to. Indirectly their co-workers can become affected as well, by causing negative feelings in the workplace or lowered worker productivity. Often, co-workers can pick up on something that is wrong with their work mates, and this can affect their mental state at work as well. Depression can go undetected in a person for a long time, but there are usually signs that point to this being what is happening to the person. People who are depressed start to withdraw from family and friends. They are not available as much or maybe they don't want to talk when you call. Depressed people also tend to drop out of normal social activities, such as going to the gym or maybe an activity they used to enjoy. It is not always the easiest thing to pinpoint that a person suffers from depression, this being because depression has similar symptoms to other things such as changes to sleeping patterns, appetite changes, and other physical signs of illness. Anyone can become depressed. Depression is not a selective condition, meaning that any race, gender, or person can be affected. Depression affects how a person thinks, feels, and sometimes, even how they act. We have all been, at one time or another "down in the dumps" to the point we just want to give up. Just think if you felt like this all the time? Well, that's how it is for someone living with depression. For most of us, at the most, it takes a few days to get back to our old selves and then we move on to what caused us to feel this way to begin with. There is treatment for depression. If you suspect that a loved one may be going through this, it is best to try to get them to a doctor as soon as possible so the person can get help right away. Some people who have not received help in time have taken their own lives. Depression can be treated in a variety of ways, including by medication that your doctor can prescribe. Your doctor can help get you on a path to recovery. Depression is a serious problem for people in the United States. This condition causes worker productivity to slide. It's estimated that depression costs the nation an estimated $44 billion every year. If it causes this much monetary damage, think what damage it causes for the person who has it or the loved one of the person? It's easy to see why it is so important that depression be treated and caught early. Sadly, though, there are many people out there that will never seek treatment for depression. Why suffer if you don't have to? Depression can be helped and lives can be improved. Online Dating - How to Tell if the Website is Genuine

By Erick Shipmon Online dating services are big business, pulling in over 3 million members on over 1000 online dating websites through out the internet. Over 17 million hits were recorded in 2002, with 15,000 new users logging on each day. But after spending your evenings surfing these sites and in chat rooms, how do you know if the site you've chosen is a reputable site where you can find a real mate? There are over 100 free online dating services, which can attract people who aren't committed to being a site member and following through with the rules that the site set up. A good rule of thumb is that reputable online dating sites will charge you monthly for becoming a member. This isn't necessarily true of all dating services online, but its a good idea to keep in mind. Online dating personals that consist mostly of chat rooms and instant messages can be a wary place to be as well. (Pay attention to the screen names these people chose!) Take a good look at pictures sent from online dating services. Look for things in the background which could mean the sender is being deceptive, (like a picture of him leaning on a Rolls Royce with a dealership flyer in the background) and choose a site that asks for your zip code which verifies that there are actually people in your area registered with their site. Also, choose a site with a detailed profile; it will be well worth your time because it will be used to narrow down the response list. Another online dating tip for choosing the best sites, go with a popular one, even if it means higher membership rates. Popular online dating websites are already proven websites, and for the money, why not go with a site that is already successful? Erick Shipmon has been an online marketer since 1997. He currently is the President and CEO of http://www.eDatingPlanet.com which is quickly becoming the hottest and most desirable online dating community on the planet. eDatingPlanet.com online dating services include: E-mail, Live Chat, Live Video Cam, FREE VoIP Broadband Long Distance, and more! Money and Marriage 101

By Nathan Dawson Q. Is a prenuptial agreement necessary? A. Legally speaking, marriage splits your combined assets and liabilities right down the middle. Everything gets shared. Therefore, a prenuptial agreement is sometimes very necessary, particularly when a married man or woman has assets or liabilities that will greatly exceed that of his or her spouse. To make a decision that is right for the both of you, consult with a financial planner who is familiar with the marriage laws in your state. Q. What about opening a joint bank account? A. Since all your money will in essence be merged together, opening a joint bank account can make paying bills much simpler. This is particularly true of bills for things that you own and share as a married couple, such as a house or insurance. However, it is also a good idea to budget some spending money to put into your own personal accounts. Q. What is the average wedding cost? A. Marriage preparation can be really hectic and stressful, depending on how fancy you want to get. Add the stress of trying to stick to a wedding budget, and you could be in for a rocky beginning. The average wedding cost is more than $15,000. This may be comfortable for you, or maybe not. Set a realistic budget taking into account your debts and your income. Q. My spouse is a spender and Im a saver. Will we ever agree? A. A good marriage is about finding balance; but most of all, it is about survival. That means being less selfish, being willing to negotiate and to compromise. If you find yourself at odds about your spending habits, get premarital counseling. Couple counseling can open the lines of communication. In the long-run, good communication is the key to successful financial and family planning. What About a Bank Loan?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Terje_Ellingsen]Terje Ellingsen Though online loans have increased tremendously the recent years, you can still apply for a loan through a bank like Bank of America, Washington Mutual, Chase or another. Most of the nationwide banks have branches in most cities so if you choose to apply for a bank loan from one of these banks in your area you are not likely to be exposed for fraud, neither ripped off or be scared that the bank will give your personal information to others Be aware however, that interest rates and loan terms are not necessarily the best just because the lender is a bank. The way you handle this issue is to compare different loan offers from different banks - the more you compare the better - before you decide which bank lender you want to go with. So what exactly should I compare? If you have decided to take your loan from a bank perhaps the most important thing to compare is the service. How do you feel about the bank and the loan officers you are in contact with. Are they polite and friendly? Since you will have to deal with these people as your lender for quite a long time, it's important to feel that you can communicate with them. The next thing you should compare is the interest rates. Should you choose a fixed rate or a non-fixed rate loan? A fixed-rate loan will normally have a higher interest rate than a non-fixed-rate loan, but if the non-fixed doesn't have a ceiling, it might be cheaper with the fixed rate loan If it is a non-fixed rate loan, check if the loan terms say anything about change in the rates - like going up - during your loan repayment period. Compare how high the rate will go of the various offers. Also compare if the bank agreement has a certain number of days after the loan has gone through to cancel. You should also check and compare if you are allowed to pay off the loan a specific time. Check and compare other restrictions. If you are not pleased with the banks and their offers, why not go online to apply for a loan? Its very convenient and even more simple than dealing with a bank. However, the choice is yours. Online Loans With Bad Credit

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Connie_Barker]Connie Barker Credit is the one thing in the United States that a person cant live comfortably without. More and more lenders, landlords, as well as anything that you would purchase on credit are tallying those credit scores. It is harder to obtain a loan as well however recently some options have emerged that are helping those who have bad credit get a loan and it is as easy as turning on your computer. Lenders now compete for potential loan clients and they have opened their doors to those with bad or questionable credit. The newest tool for lenders to reach these folks who might not otherwise walk through the door is the internet. There are a number of reasons why a person who is credit challenged would not step into a lenders branch office to attempt a loan. First many who have bad credit are conditioned to believe that they cant obtain a loan so they figure why try. Second, borrowers who have bad credit usually dont want to announce or justify why their credit is that way in the first place. Bad credit comes in many ways that may have nothing at all to do with the way you manage money. More and more lenders are realizing this and trying to find a way to help those with bad credit get loans. This is where the internet comes in; a borrower can do everything online and never have to sit in front of a person at all. These lenders come from many different types of institutions such as savings and loans, commercial banks and credit unions. The individual does their own research and finds an online loan website that fits their needs and clicks on the application area of the site. The borrower can now fill out all of the paperwork sitting at home. There are no hard sells from the lender and if the answer is no, the only person the wiser is the borrower and an anonymous lender on the other end of the fiber optics. There are hundreds of online lenders who issue online loans and it will take some research to find the right one. Type in bad credit loans and it will bring up the choices you have. At this point go through and read the information provided keeping in mind your financial situation. There is an online loan for everyone out there just waiting to be applied for. There are many different types loans on the internet and from a bevy of lenders. The loan that is right for you depends on what you are looking for in the loan you want. The interest rate, term of loan, and loan options are all spelled out on most internet web loan sites so pay close attention to the small print.
